Bitcoin reclaims $85,000 as a broad relief rally lifts every major digital asset

Total crypto market value climbs to $2.89trn, with Cardano and Dogecoin leading the 24-hour move

Digital-asset markets moved higher across the board in the 24 hours to 21 September 2026, with total market value reaching roughly $2.89trn, up 2.64 per cent on the day. Bitcoin traded at about $85,206, a gain of 5.98 per cent over 24 hours and 8.78 per cent across the week, restoring the $85,000 level after an extended period of consolidation.

What the numbers show

  • Bitcoin: $85,206, up 5.98 per cent in 24 hours and 8.78 per cent over seven days, with a market value near $1.71trn.
  • Ethereum: $2,726, up 5.83 per cent in 24 hours and 8.29 per cent over seven days, with a market value near $333bn.
  • BNB: $789, up 4.92 per cent in 24 hours and 9.23 per cent over seven days.
  • XRP: $1.49, up 8.37 per cent in 24 hours and 6.30 per cent over seven days.
  • Solana: $116.68, up 7.83 per cent in 24 hours and 14.55 per cent over seven days.
  • Dogecoin: up 10.11 per cent in 24 hours; Cardano: up 11.42 per cent, the strongest move among the majors.

Breadth, not a single-asset move

The defining feature of the session is breadth. Every asset tracked on the CMN markets page finished the 24-hour window higher, and the weekly picture is positive across the same set. Smaller, higher-beta assets outpaced Bitcoin: Cardano and Dogecoin each added more than 10 per cent on the day, and Solana leads the weekly table with a 14.55 per cent gain.

Bitcoin dominance stands at 59.24 per cent of total market value, with Ethereum at 11.52 per cent. Dominance at that level alongside outperformance by smaller assets suggests the move is a broad repricing rather than rotation out of Bitcoin.

Liquidity check

Reported 24-hour turnover was approximately $43.4bn in Bitcoin and $20.8bn in Ethereum, with $5.1bn in Solana and $4.0bn in XRP. Turnover concentrated in the two largest assets is typical of a relief move; a sustained trend would usually show volume broadening further down the market-cap table over subsequent sessions.

What to watch next

  • Whether Bitcoin holds the $85,000 level through a full weekly close rather than an intraday print.
  • Whether turnover outside the top two assets rises, which would indicate broader participation.
  • Whether Bitcoin dominance drifts below the high-50s, the usual marker of a rotation into smaller assets.
